It has been proven that omega-3 fats are the most preferred source of fatty acids for the body. First of all, omega-3s have an effective anti-inflammatory effect, which helps prevent the development of a number of diseases, in particular heart diseases and oncological pathologies. People with a high omega-3 content are more pronounced insulin sensitivity, since positive changes occur in the structure of cell membranes.

The study, which made it possible to talk about such findings, was conducted with the participation of 1111 women who underwent MRI. Eight years after the start of the study, the women who took part in it were already 78 years old. Specialists conducted new MRI studies to determine the state of the brain and its volume. According to the results, in those women whose body had a high level of omega-3s, the total brain volume was larger. At the same time, the brain was about two years younger.

To slow down the decrease in brain volumes and, accordingly, prevent Alzheimer's disease, experts advise to adhere to certain principles in organizing daily nutrition or periodically use special supplements that should be taken from time to time. Omega-3s are found in large quantities in walnut oil and linseed oil, in green leafy vegetables, and in soybeans. Omega-3s are also rich in fatty fish. It is recommended to eat fish dishes at least twice a week. Moreover, at least once a week it should be a dish of oily fish - mackerel, sardines, herring.
